Abstract Even for processes with only a few gas species involved the detailed description of plasma-assisted conversion in mixtures requires large amount to be taken into account and number neutral charged particles must considered. In addition, setting up corresponding reaction kinetics model needs knowledge rate coefficients their temperature dependence all possible reactions between those species. Reduced networks offer simplified pragmatic way obtain an overall model, already useful analysis experimental data even if not details chemistry can covered. this paper we present derivation driven reduced methane helium environment. By consideration small elementary reactions, simple is set up. Experimental are analyzed by genetic algorithm that provides best-fit approximations open parameters model. further step non-relevant identified reduction achieved.
